Hailing from the capitol of Chile, PULVERIZER pretty much do as the name describes. Hallmark death metal grinding heavily influenced by stuff like early MORBID ANGEL in purist fashion, but with the benefit of better production in the modern era. The albums starts off with "Devocion" which features mostly old school death metal drums with some double bass mixed in keeping it from being too predictable. It features some more classic style death metal soloing to break the song up.

"Consumed by Ignorance" suffers from a little bit of samey-ness for my taste, but I do like the soloing throughout the song which reminds me a little bit of classic SEPULTURA. If i had to pick a favorite song on this it would be "Cadáveres." I like how the song has an almost doomy intro, just to switch it up to blastbeats. This LP may appeal to target audiences, and its good at being what it aims for! However in the age of metal that we are in you have a philosophical conflict. The purists will sway towards this style for not bowing to trends or sticking to the spirit of metal, and I completely understand that point of view. I even enjoy a lot of bands that do that. The other thought process that I fall more under is that metal is about rebellion and evolution and this keeps the genre from getting too stagnant. I am kind of burnt out on traditionalist metal so I'm keeping that in mind to be fair. I feel that this LP could use more variety in the songs to improve. One of my favorite old metal LP's, SEPULTURA'S Arise, has a great amount of variety and I can visit time and time again, decades after its release.

I feel that there is a lot of good here and it just needs a bit of pizazz to step it up. Overall: I think there's a lot of potential in this band. South America has a lot of great old school death metal bands and this is no exception. With a bit more variety, I think PULVERIZED has the potential to grow in popularity in the future. I look forward to seeing what they do next.
