The desperate German metallers were kind enough to send us their latest full-length work to be reviewed here in Metal Temple, since their label may has abandoned them regarding the promotional campaign this album should have. Anyway, I am not the one to judge the work a label does and it is definitely up to them to do whatever they want.
The above intro was written because the album was released in 2006, but never reached the Metal Temple headquarters. Two years after its release, the band was desperate enough to handle the promotion of its new album by itself. The band went through various line up problems, but I still haven't managed to understand who the man behind the drums is. Their Myspace page mentions Kopf, but the bio note that is in the CD says that Kopf left in 2006 and got replaced by Stefan Dittrich.
The band is balancing between the Thrash and the Power Metal scenes with a slight tension towards the Thrash genre. PSYCHOTRON play an honest but not so unique kind of music that many bands like IMAGIKA, ICED EARTH and MORGANA LEFAY have played in the past, so there is almost nothing that could make them distinguish from the rest of the Thrash/Power kind of bands. Although there is some nice guitar work and some really nice ideas in general, PSYCHOTRON's music is something that didn't attract my interest.
Overall it is a decent release, but I believe that the band needs a new singer, since Matze's voice is the only negative thing I could find in Pray For Salvation. I believe that a new more dynamic voice would breathe fresh air into this band. That's all I had to say. Think and act at your own cost.
