As everyone already knows, Doom Death Metal was born at the last years of the 80's, with the fusion of the slow paced tempos and bitter ambiance of classic Doom Metal (namely, TROUBLE, WITCHFINDER GENERAL, ST. VITUS and others) with the brutality of Death Metal (besides HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST had some slower songs in the 80's). And everyone also known that PARADISE LOST, MY DYING BRIDE and ANATHEMA created the foundations, and expanded limits. But the classic notion of what Doom Death Metal musically is can be describe above. So it's not a sin to say that the Spanish trio PROSCRITO is a follower from the classic ideas of the genre, as can be heard on "Llagas Y Estigmas", their first album.

Their music is really nasty and aggressive, with slow tempos and a funereal ambiance that can remind the early works of BLACK SABBATH (as the quartet of Birmingham would play Death Metal their own way), with songs filled with dirty guitars, extreme grunts and some screams, and a massive rhythmic work from bass guitar and drums. And besides their music don't sound as new (because the genre is extremely eroded by time), they present a personal and good work. Javi Félez took care of the recording, mixing and mastering, trying to create something that could sound brutal and oppressive (as Old School Doom Death Metal must be) with the modern aesthetics (that one that allows the instrumental tunes to be comprehensible for the listeners). And he did a good job, besides the final result is rawer than the needed (it's good, but not perfect).

The band uses very long time spams (what can be a problem for those who aren't into such musical format), so there only five songs on the album, each one of them with their own good musical ideas. But the bitter and funereal ambiance of "Persistiendo" (very good and nasty vocals, with some good contrasts between grunts and agonizing screams), the nasty distorted guitars presented on "Tronos de Oprobio", the 'Sabbathic' Death Metal song "Exequias", and the long funeral procession onward to the graveyard called "Pantalgia" (an instrumental filled with very good work from bass guitar, but the drums are really great on this song). Of course the trio needs to improve some more, but they're on the right path.

As told above, PROSCRITO must evolve a bit more, because their musical potential isn't all used on "Llagas y Estigmas", but the musical ideas on this release are enough to see that they're on the right path.
