Sunrise
Professor Black
To release many albums of a same band in the same year is not the wisest strategy one can chose, because it would be expensive to the fans to buy them all at once. And on the third album of the triad that PROFESSOR BLACK released simultaneously this year, we can say that "Sunrise" is another and different insight from "LVPVS" and "I Am the Rock". This one is near something that mixes the melodies of W.A.S.P., BATHORY and RUNNING WILD with the personal insight of the band. It's not technically complex, and the only album that Chris recorded all alone, so it can depict what is inside his heart and soul. It sounds personal, deeper and filled with charming melodies, but keeping the right amount of aggressiveness. We could say that it is in a similar way of works from Progressive Extreme Metal like IHSAHN and VINTERSORG, but not as technical as them.
The sound quality of "Sunrise" is the best of the three albums. Even keeping the raw touch to make it sound aggressive in the right way, the whole aesthetics was done to be clean, for the songs to be understood fully and without problems. And the instrumental tunes were chosen wisely. "Sunrise" is truly deeper and melodic, bearing songs that are really very good. And the melodies easy to be assimilated of "Die by the Sun" (very good vocals, indeed) and of "In the Fire and the Rain" (this one shows simple guitars, but they are good in this way), the German Metal influence on the tempos of "Gathering Stone" and on "Closer to Death" (both presenting a good technical work from bass guitar and drums), and the clear influence from BATHORY's Viking era of "Fall From on High" are the best shots of the album. But it is excellent from the beginning until the last second. You can chose the best of the three albums in the way you want, but "Sunrise" is the most deepest of them, from where many emotions rise. So hear it as many times as you can.
