PREY ON THE FALLEN are a Heavy Metal band from Los Angeles, USA formed in 2012 and released their self titled debut album the following year.
Opening the album is the bombastic blast "Prey On The Fallen" with its pounding rhythm and thunderous stomp, an excellent clear mix and great guitar solos, with a vocal performance reminiscent of the legendary vocalist Dee Snider (TWISTED SISTER, WIDOWMAKER). Picking up the pace is "Sherman's March", rattling along like an express train, relentless guitar work and a foot stomping rhythm. "Complete Hypocrisy" opens with a huge catchy riff and races off at a mid tempo pace, very much guitar driven with great vocals and a blistering guitar solo.
"Last Breath" is a superb slab of melodic Heavy Metal, similar in style to some of the great anthems by British legends JUDAS PRIEST. "Vultures To Flesh" is full of attitude, chugging guitars and a venomous vocal performance. The mid tempo PANTERA like "Present Time" chugs away relentlessly, followed by what may seem a strange choice of song to cover, but PREY ON THE FALLEN do a fantastic job with "Hotel California" (by THE EAGLES). Keeping true to the pace of the original song, it is slow, it is heavy and just as catchy as the original.
"Chain Reaction" is full of attitude and is a fantastic example of melodic Heavy Metal. "Creed To The Greed" has some excellent guitar work and a great gravel sounding vocal performance. Best song is the final song "War" which brings the album to a close in a blaze of guitars, dramatic time changes and foot stomping thunderous rhythms.
Overall, chugging guitars and thunderous foot stomping rhythms makes this is a very good melodic Heavy Metal album.
