Here's a band that doesn't need an introduction; whether you are a fan or not German Power Metal quintet POWERWOLF are a regular occurrence within the metal community. This particular force are incredibly to have that rare gift that gives their own trademark sound where within seconds you know exactly who you are listening to within the first few seconds of the song.
Following the great success of their previous album "Preachers Of The Night" POWERWOLF are understandably more than ready to release what could actually be the hottest release in Metal this year. If the two singles released from the album aren't enough to convince you to pre-order, this review will explain in more detail.
Onto the actual album itself; it opens in that iconic style these German metalheads are best known for. This commencing song is made up of the iconic vocal work from Attila Dorn, the spectacular melodies on the organ, classic riffs and the thunderous drums that provide the solid backbone. So it's extremely safe to say they still have that sound that makes them who they are.
This particular new release is full of bold, strong melodies that can make the most tedious of tasks sound completely grand, heroic and of course powerful. One particular thing they are well known for is creating such melodies that will swim around your head for hours on end. Brilliant examples of this in the album are the tracks "We Are The Wild", "Sacramental Sister" and their prevailing single "Army Of The Night".
The highlight on the album for me was the concluding track "Let There Be Night"; this track demonstrates the most power and strength, particularly within the band's talent. The marching beats alongside the classical arrangements worked very well. It leaves the listener glued to the seat or wherever they happen to be.
As explained before, POWERWOLF have created their unique sound and are not going to be letting it go anytime soon.
