Posthumanbigbang - Jungle Eyes album cover

POSTHUMANBIGBANG are a Progressive-Post-Metal band out of Bern, Switzerland. This is their second full-length album and first since 2011. They are definitely one of the most unique bands I ever covered for Metal Temple and that's an understatement to say the least! They are quite unique and brings the listener to a number of different places throughout this stellar album.

The album starts off with the soothing sounds of Middle-Eastern instruments and you think you are going on a journey but you sure as hell don't know where you are going. It's a rollercoaster to say the least. They definitely mix a number of different genres to make something rather peculiar. You have the Post-Metal goodness of bands like ISIS or NEUROSIS but you also have that chaotic feel of a band like BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME. I have not heard something this weird in a long time, probably since ORANSSI PAZUZU a few years back.

They defy any particular logic and make haste. They are a combination of the psychedelic 70's progressive masterpieces mixed with extreme metal elements. Somehow this actually makes for something pretty much authentic. They actually have a very structured approach but they give the listener more than they asked for. If you are tired of the Progressive Metal stylings we all know and love and you want something completely out of left field, well this band is for you. It's an overwhelming feeling and you feel bombarded by the sights and sounds of this band. They bring the genre to another level and it's literally a melting pot. The instrumental parts of the songs wouldn't be out of place in a CyberPunk-esque Video Game or the narrative in some Science-Fiction movie.

When you hear the first song you are transported on a voyage through time and space and everything between. The 65 minute album just passes by like a warm breeze on a great summer day. They are a breath of fresh air and one of the most unique bands out there. If you love Post-Metal and you love BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, you will absolutely loves this, it's that good!
