Hailing from the Czech Republic, POPPY SEED GRINDER was formed in 1997 with their roots in Brutal Death Metal. These guys have released two full length albums, a split album with DEFEATED SANITY, and few other EPs, demos, and promos. POPPY SEED GRINDER has toured in many countries such as Bulgaria, Austria, Croatia, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Switzerland, Germany, France, Slovakia, and their home country of the Czech Republic with bands that include NAPALM DEATH, CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS, MACABRE, ENTOMBED, VADER, HYPOCRISY, IMMOLATION, and the list goes on and on.

"Promo 14" is the demo release of the new full-length album they are releasing at a later date. "Promo 14" is a three track album that comes in at about nine minutes of listening time. Track one, "Dominant Class of Animals" comes in brutal, hard, and has some pretty cool guitar work. The drums are blast beat goodness. As the track continues on, it gets a bit musically cluttered. However, that didn't last through the entirety of the track so "Dominant Class of Animals" was back to near perfection. The vocals are so low and gritty and just good. Along the same time the tone of the track changed the vocals did too, to an unappealing roar.

"Going Through", the second track, comes in at just two minutes and forty-three seconds, but it is an incredible track. The flow is immensely better than the first; the vocals stay low and keep the track in line with the bass and drums. I do love the guitar here. It may be one of my favorite guitar tracks this year. The bass is incredible and lines perfectly with the guitar. The drums are good, but not as noticeable because the bass and guitar definitely steal the limelight.

"Variety X" is the final track on "Promo 14" and it comes in again with raging guitars and a drum line that is very almost "poppy" but is a really cool variation of sound for the album. The blast beats return, but the creativity here is pure genius. This track is fun to listen too. The vocals are almost too gritty, and that's why this track is perfect.

"Promo 14" is by far the best EP, demo, or promo album I have listened to this year. POPPY SEED GRINDER is Brutal Death Metal at their core. Please listen to these guys. They are worthy of your attention. They produce Metal that should be getting them worldwide attention.<
