Life Death And Miracles

Plastic Drop

Good Hard Rock from Italy.
February 16, 2025

We have a new band from Italy to introduce to you all today kids. The band is PLASTIC DROP and they are releasing their debut album Life Death And Miracles. This is a power trio with roots in the psychedelic and post Grunge kind of sound as per their own description. I will be the judge. From the first 2 tracks “I Want You To See Me” and “Nothing To Share”, I can tell you that this is a good well rooted Hard Rock full of Rhythm and Blues and some country touches. The songs are creative and it is a joy to listen to all the 3 instruments clearly in the mix as you can also hear in “Not For You”. This one has a cool Punk vibe without being too offensive or radical. I am loving the bass sound and the melodies from bass player Matina Manca that fills my year with joy in this song.

The tunes are also creative with several moods and instrumental passages as you can hear in "Simply Beautiful” that for me is the best of the album so far. Good creative melodic passages and good singing from Paolo Pani that has a good range and a raspy vocal that fits perfectly with the type of sound proposed. He is also a good guitar player capable of providing some tasty licks and solos like in “Don’t Leave Me Know” that the name suggests a suffering ballad but I am glad to report that is everything but. Another good track with another killer bass sound and good melody and song structure. Just good energetic Heavy Rock. The Italians know what they are doing and I am not surprised. We go a little wha wha pedal on the track “2016” that took the title of the best of the album from the last one.

Great song structure, guitar solo, and some crazy syncopated tempos provided by competent drummer Alessandro Brundu, giving an extra flavour to the track and making my ears happy. I do not know what happened in 2016 but I believe it was something very inspiring. “It Turns To Bad” starts and they could not be more mistaken as it does not turn bad at all. The tracks keep getting better and better making it hard to pick up a favourite and this is a sign of a good album. PLASTIC DROP’s sound can be a little Pop Heavy as well as in “Never Again” that has a more teen vibe and goes away from the psychedelic sauce used until then. Still a good track. We end our journey with “Alive” that has also a unique and “weird” guitar riff and is also a joy to explore with all its tempo changes and dreamy vocal lines. What a good debut album and for me is an easy buy if you like some creative and well played Hard Rock full of soul.
