I love Grindcore; there is something so raw and primal about it, it's also really satisfying going to a Grindcore show and hearing an entire album in 30 minutes. There are also a lot of shitty bands in the genre that make it all about how fast and incomprehensible you can play. They are fun, but lack any real substance but for every handful of forgettable Grind bands you listen to, you sift out a PIG DESTROYER. If you haven't heard of PIG DESTROYER, now is the best time to get yourself acquainted with one of Grindcore's greatest bands! The group has released a re-issue of their sophomore hit, "Prowler in the Yard", an album following a story of loss, extreme psychological pain and plenty of gory, graphic imagery. The album was first written at a time when vocalist JR Hayes was going through a rough time dealing with life and love. The album marks the beginning of the band's lyrics becoming less political and more emotionally oriented. The re-issued album includes all 22 original tracks, a previously unreleased, unnamed track as well as "Jennifer 2", a more shocking and creepier continuation of the wonderfully obscene, eyeball licking "Jennifer" story at the beginning of the album. With the original album being recorded on 8-tracks in a dingy basement, it's surprising the original "Prowler in the Yard" had the sound quality it did. The re-issue really lets PIG DESTROYER be played the way it was meant to; it's crisp, clear, and most importantly, louder, it gives the album all the emotional energy and rage that was intended and deserved.
