PHALLOPLASTY is a one-man based band from Las Vegas, Nevada. The band, fronted by Zack Shaw, brings together elements of Brutal Death Metal along with Goregrind, which create the nature of the band that is PHALLOPLASTY. Formed in 2009, the band has a selection of releases from a split to two full-lengths and two EP's, showing that the band is busy and keeping creative at that. Today we are reviewing the re-release of the bands 2012 release, entitled Necrophagic Funeral Ritual (Redux).

From the start of the record, we get what we expect from a band like PHALLOPLASTY in terms of sound and structure; the band itself, of course, is a one-man project, which is awesome. I really respect the fact that this guy has worked hard, in terms of creating something like this, but I won't lie when I say I don't find anything that pulls me in from the first three songs "Butchered for Sustenance", "The Sick Room", "Cannabis Induced Cannibalism". I feel that what I get from this is that the vocals are the one thing that stands apart from the rest, which is to say that it is hard to hear what's happening or what's even going on.

Throughout this record, there are in fact some great riffs, but I really feel the mixing on this record could have been improved greatly since all we get is the vocals blasting out while we get a faint idea to what the drums and bass, guitars sound like. For me, it sounds like everything has been rushed or has been mashed together. I'll give the guy props though; Zack Shaw has brought something different to the table, but at the same time, it can be said that not everyone is going to like it, though you will get those who enjoy it, which is great, I just feel I'm not one of those at this point, folks.

Going through to the next three songs "Liquefaction Necrosis", "The Sadist Manifesto", and "Bound and Bludgeoned", we seem to get the same result as before; there are ideas within this record which stand out as something that could have been done better, meaning mixed differently, or at least could have had each instrument sound equal to the other instruments being played, though sadly that really isn't the case. From what we see inside these three, we see the same pattern over and over again, which for me has become boring.

To conclude, I really respect what Zack Shaw has done here and I really feel that for what he is doing now can be respected as well; it's just I hope for the future, he is able to bring more life into the material he creates.
