PATRONS OF THE ROTTING GATE, Progressive Black Metal from Belfast, yes Belfast, Northern Ireland, and that is for all of you loyal fans that don't know where it is. Frankly, I'm not a big fan of Progressive Metal in general, yet when combining it with Black Metal, a passion that has never truly left me, especially its classic vapor. Therefore I am not being predigest, and I kept my mind open for this one. It does seems that like many progressive albums it's more like a ride then a song by song. Furthermore, it would appear that the album's structured was planned like that, you should listen to it in one single session and not song by song, sure if you can make a time for it.
Nevertheless, I found the album to be a surprise or should I say a blackened surprise, "Tři Závěti" and "Carnassial" songs are truly Black Metal masterpieces, don't forget the progression element because there is a lot of it and yet again many of the songs seem to be a pathway for the next, what makes the album very interesting. I will not dwell into merits of production's quality, as I didn't see it fit. This album is more of an adventure and less of a true Metal album; ether way found it was very enjoyable.
