Path To Transcendence
Pat Reilly
PAT REILLY also known as "Pat The Panther" is the one man band in himself who is from Queens, New York. His style is Melodic Instrumental Metal which is hauntingly beautiful to listen to. Pat started learning guitar at the age of 16 & has never looked back. You can tell he has learned with passion as the care he gives in delivering his music. Although currently unsigned, he is doing rather well on his own. His first single "She Lights Up The Dark" was released in August 2016 and now we have his new release of the album "Path To Transcendence" on January 3rd 2020. The new album brings us 9 immersing songs of pure instrumental pleasure Which is a slow & soothing paced album. The fact that it's an instrumentally influenced album gives height to the music being played. The album shows as Pat says his influences come from the likes of PINK FLOYD & DIMEBAG DARREL to name a couple. I will go on to describe a couple of the songs from the new solo album.
The album opens with the song titled "Between Two Worlds" which envelopes you as a listener & takes you to a place far away. It's a song that lays the way for the rest of the album to follow in a haze of soothing riffs & drum beats. The music definitely has an enchanting flow & feel about it. Song number 3 "Bleeding Life" can be heard to give off a similar haunting vibe with the instrumental sound to it. The kind of music that makes you picture rolling fog on a dark winters night and fires the imagination with imagery. The song called "Winter Sunrise" has vocals to it right from the start which only go to compliment the music supporting them, truly easy to listen to & very entrancing. To sum up the songs on the new album, I will finish with song number 9 which closes the album to us with the track "The Farewell Illusion", another beautifully melodic song which speaks only of the sounds of the guitars and drums that make it flow so effortlessly. A really chilled metal album to listen to at any time you want to wind down and relax as its easy to listen to & carries you away to a warm & cosy place.
Overall I have really enjoyed reviewing this album as I do enjoy a good melodic song and PAT REILLY certainly delivers on this scale. The fact that his solo album has been written & produced so well shows a bold future for the guitarist/singer. I will certainly be listening to PAT REILLY a fair bit from here on in. If you like smooth & steady soothing metal sounds I'd highly recommend giving the album a try. I will most definitely be adding it to my YouTube playlist. I would say overall its a great album, no faults to be found and only fine instrumentals flowing from song to song.
