ORDEN OGAN is a unique sounding band. They incorporate so many styles that it is hard to decide exactly what category their music fits under. Unlike most bands that throw everything against the wall to see what sticks, ORDEN OGAN actually manages to keep a coherent sound while playing so many different styles. They manage to incorporate Power Metal, modern elements, folk and progressive Metal with a slight touch of gothic music as well. There are songs about so many different subjects that it is very hard to fit them in one category. You have a song about pirates and songs about human emotions as well as self reflection. The first song starts out with a few seconds of synthesizers and then quickly moves into a traditional Power Metal song. It has a very fast tempo, excellent choir vocals and double bass pounding. I really love the background vocals in this song. To me it is the best song on the album and that is saying quite a bit. This album is packed full of good music, probably as much as you can fit on a CD.

Another impressive song is "Reality Lost". It starts out very fast and slows down with some pretty good chord progression. They definitely know more than three chords. I hear a little bit of METALLICA's "Sad but True", but that may just be me. The speed of the song returns towards the end providing the listener with a very satisfying tune. There are two slow tempo ballad type songs on this release. I try my best to overlook that whenever it happens, but the "metal" in me is almost always disappointed when it happens. I know Heavy Metal artists do this to prove that they not just a one trick pony, that they can do more than just pound the drums as fast as they can. I am willing to take their word for it and put some faster songs on the album instead, unfortunately for me, I am not calling the shots. It is a tried a true formula for hundreds of bands, so I guess I am in the minority.

Overall, this album has a lot to offer. The many different styles incorporated within will no doubt have something for everyone. If you are looking for a certain type of genre, then you won't find it here. ORDEN OGAN seems to be experimenting with their sound, trying to find their one true "sound". I hope it works out for them. They are a very talented band that needs to find more focus. I have a feeling that this is the type of album that will leave the fan base divided, with some liking only the Metal parts and skipping the slow tunes and perhaps even the other way around. I would imagine if the fan feedback is similar to my own opinion, they will find more focus. I have faith in these guys. Once they find one or two styles they are satisfied with instead of several, they will really be a great band. That said; there are still plenty of good songs on this album.
