Opeth - Blackwater Park album cover

The return of one of the pioneers of melodic Black (or should I say dark?) Metal, comes with an album that's more than breathtaking. Let's take a closer look!
First of all, Blackwater Park is the natural evolution of Still Life. It contains all the known Opeth elements and adds more. It's dark and twisted, brutal yet melodic, and also very diverse. The more tame and melodic elements are stronger and more numerous in this album, almost in all songs. The perfect example of what Opeth can do, is Bleak, a song that contains all the elements of Opeth, and a true masterpiece!
The production is almost perfect, with a clear and strong sound. And with a great and moody artwork, the whole work is completed!
Blackwater Park with songs like Bleak, The Funeral Portrait and the title track, is definitely one of the best albums for 2001 so far, both in its genre and the whole Metal scene.
