Old Thunder - Slings & Arrows album cover

Having originally been in bands such as SULPHUR GRACE and WOE OF TYRANTS, Dustin Grooms has started again. This time it is via the release of EP "Slings & Arrows" under the alias OLD THUNDER.

When I first saw that it stated Sludge Metal as the depicted sub-genre I was somewhat disheartened as quite honestly it isn't my favourite thing to listen to; with this said I do like to keep an open mind and give things a try regardless of whether it's in my comfort zone or not.

Unfortunately this EP only reinforced my reasoning on why I don't particularly like Sludge Metal as each song on this EP only offered up the same boring lackluster and composition that quite frankly made want to rip my ears off. Each song sounded so similar that I didn't realise iTunes had started to play the album again.

If a fan of Sludge Metal listened to this record then I do believe they would enjoy it but unfortunately for me it really wasn't my kind of record.
