Zwei Fäuste Für Rock n Roll
Ohrenfeindt

OHRENFEINDT sound extremely similar to AC/DC. If you like that band, this opening sentence is probably all you need to know to decide you like OHRENFEINDT before you even hear one note of them. The guitars are made up of simple but well played, and well-toned, riffs that ride the line between hard rock and metal. There isn't any crazy solos, odd time changes, or complicated song structures. What we have here is a solid hard rock band that recalls the days of the late 70's and early 80's where music was often times more straight forward with more concern for rocking faces off than melting them with sheer technicality.
The band's sound is a bit basic for my personal tastes but that isn't to say the band isn't talented and that other people won't absolutely love their sound. There isn't a lot of bands these days that play music that isn't obsessed with the many sub genres of hard rock/metal; there is indeed something to be said for music that is simple and straight from the heart, a place this band definitely plays from. Rohde impresses me the most with his incredibly fluid drumming. No, it isn't going to blow your mind or make you think twice, but his playing is energetic and it flows across the songs very well. I really like it when he sets into a groove and really cuts lose with the rest of the band, such as on the fourth track "Kong Und Rebell" where the last minute the song the whole band is just jamming along while he attacks his kit with abandon.
"Zwei Fauste Fur Rock' n' Roll" sounds identical to AC/DC. If Rockt was singing in English, I swear to god I would think this was a new AC/DC track. The music on this one is rather catchy. This is the type of tune you turn up loud as possible on a sunny day, roll the windows down, and speed down the highway fast as you can. The riffs are loud and the song is pieced together with little solos that bind it all, and the gruff vocals demand your attention. This is an above average album for me but not a great one. Take my rating with a small grain of salt ; I'm looking for something with a bit more meat and potatoes but if straight ahead hard rock with a classic rock influence is your thing, then I could definitely see you giving this album a much higher rating.
