The season of hazy sunshine and warm weather is nearing an end here in the UK but there will always be certain aspects and elements that will remind you of this beautiful season known as summer time. Whether it is films, items in the house or music. The latest music item to remind one of summer time is debut EP "Debris" given to us by Israeli Progressive Death Metal trio OBSIDIAN TIDE and they offer up a more than promising sound that will ensure worldwide recognition.

Ever since emerging deeper into Metal and the worldwide success of fellow Israeli Metal outfit ORPHANED LAND, there seems to be a rise in Heavy Metal from the Middle East which means the mission of music to bring people together from all corners of the globe.

This EP is a solid collection of OBSIDIAN TIDE's work and gives the listener an excellent insight of what their sound will bring. Opening track "Mothman" starts off exceptionally well; the perfect moment where influences OPETH playing in the sunset at Bloodstock Festival came to mind for the duration of the beginning of this track. The elements of Death Metal come in much later giving the listener a little bit of a wake-up call with the aggressive growls.

A brilliant aspect of this EP is how beautifully the tracks transitions onto the next; that is an admirable thing about Progressive Metal, the sign of a great EP/album is the different tracks sounding as if they could all belong into one huge number which makes the journey a very pleasurable one. A strong demonstration of this is through the tracks "Solace" and "Halfbreed" the conversion is so silky and stunning they could easily be classed as one track.

Ending on a solid note with the mesmerising "Debris" and acoustic beauty "Reclamation" it's more than safe to say this debut EP will do more than open doors for OBSIDIAN TIDE.
