Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: NUCLEAR DEATH; signed via Moribund Records, hailing from the United States of America - performing Experimental Rock/Metal, on their 4th Full-length album entitled: "The Planet Cachexial" (released November 26th, 2021). Since formation in 1985; the split-up duo have 4 Demos, 4 Compilations, 1 EP, 1 Boxed Set and 5 Full-length in their discography. Moribund Records resurrected "The Planet Cachexial" for the next generation for discovery sake. 11 tracks ranging at around 28:55; this short record arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Experimental Rock/Metal amalgamations.

Opening up with this cryptic flicker of riffing progression; "Cachexial" bizarrely begins the record with this stoner-like symbiosis of psychedelia, trippiness & monolithic manifestations of maddening proportions. A hypnotic slam smacks speakers with weird maelstrom technicalities, "Raped By The Wiengod" distils a hallucinatory foundation in flamboyant yet spacious waves of spectral, experimental hybrids. A confusing haze of mystifying contortion distorts an immensely intriguing swerve of puzzling songwriting musicianship where this sulfurous synthesis of just strange rhythm patterns strife with offbeat conundrums, as a demented surge of unorthodox vehemence makes me question NUCLEAR DEATH's virtuosity here? Especially true within "Birthing Of Slumberblood", where more wacky oddities screw with my head. Consisting of Lori Bravo on vocals/guitars/bass, this multitasking atrocity does nothing more than yell with torment & thud his instruments with poor flow.

I feel like it's probably not getting any better... as "Grimalkin Be Spoiled" continues baffling me with this peculiar ramification of idiocentric craziness. As dynamic as can be, a dexterous mess showcases this outre panache that still strikes with outlandish insanity. "The Ground Hath Noses" is a shorter reprieve while still bombarding a barrage frenzy in blistering craftsmanship headaches.  "Ve'at" so far is the most listenable one, still a little farfetch'd in its design but its dark but cavernous fever makes me a least wants to marvel with this one. "Into Zyrèlyà" supplies more snappy malformations of quirky pandemonium, pursuing with nothing more than wildly rushing mayhem & rapidly rambunctious tonality that's just unlistenable. "Oh Father Death, Taketh Me!" is an otherworldly soundscape of moody, spacious vibes which doesn't deliver much rock/metal swarve at all. It's a decent break from the tribal shrine of obscure yet perplexing versatility, however as I continue to the "Wardance" more what the fuck moments possess me.

Steve Cowan on drums injects an infectiously rumbling reverb of trembling stompiness while tapping stridency slams with lunatic instability, when you think NUCLEAR DEATH could bring more viscosity to the table within the penultimate "Tis Ne'r Over 'til the Fat Thing Screams" ...think again. And then the overall concluding ludicrosity of "Amanuensis to Basiliscus Pente" makes me wish I never turned this recording on.

Bottom line; well, I certainly didn't expect a record of this magnitude to be as bad as this. There's a fine line between prog/tech sounding somewhat OK, and then there's "The Planet Cachexial"... which doesn't do those sub-genres justice whatsoever. I'm inclined to at LEAST give it a 2 for its attempt at trying to be enjoyable but its just not worthy of spinning at all, it's just bad...avoid at all costs.
