The underground scene has many names that the greater part of the fans never heard of, because the bands keep themselves hidden, and only those with access to information will know their work. And the Swedish quartet NOMINON is one of them, a true fighter that drips musical fury with "Yesterdeath".

It's a compilation of extremely rare material that these guys released on 7" EPs from 2003 to this moment, but all the tracks are showing the same nasty and raw energy from Swedish Old School Death Metal, but without copying the work of any band. The features from Swedish Death Metal (that evolved from a mix of early Hardcore and Crossover with the brutality from Thrash/Black Metal acts) are pulsing on the quartet music, so be prepared for some hooking aggressiveness and sharp brutality, but pulsing with life and energy.

The production seems to have made some arrangements when collection these rare tracks, but without trying to make any editions or even putting rerecorded parts on it. All sounds aggressive and brutal, but trying to fit on a model that allows their music to be understood by the listeners. But there are differences of sonority between the songs, because it's a compilation, so be prepared to not have the wrong idea about their musical work.

One great feature: the songs are present on a regressive form, from newer material to older one, what can show how the band evolved throughout these years, but never opening hand from their personality. And the brutality shown on "Rigor Mortis" (an amazing song filled with many old and good Thrash/Black Metal influences, but with very good tempo changes and contrasts between grunts and snarls), "Of Ancient Craft" (a drilling set of great guitar riffs can be heard on this one, along sickening solos), "Burnt Human Offering" (if someone say that Death Metal in Old School format can be technical, show this one this person), "Black Chapel" (a more traditional Death Metal insight can be heard on this one, especially due the rhythmic conductions from bass guitar and drums), "Release in Death" (this one can take the fans mind to early Swedish Death Metal releases, but with a personal insight), and "Blaspheming the Dead" (this one shows how this quartet always had a personal insight on their music, because it seems a fusion between Old School Death Metal with German Thrash/Black Metal, and what very good vocals once more). But the live versions for "Hordes of Flies" and "Condemned to Die" shows how lovely organic their musical work is.

NOMINON is that kind of band that deserves to be better recognized by Death Metal maniacs. And a personal story: I didn't know the band at all (shame on me), but with "Yesterdeath", they got one more fan.
