Niva - Atmospherical album cover

NIVA has a long history, but inspired by DIO, JOE LYNN TURNER, and GEOFF TATE and created with members from LION'S SHARE. Each member of the group has been making music for decades whether it's producing or writing or both, these guys are completely integrated into this album, and among the first five releases. "Atmospherical" comes in with ten tracks and a listening time of about 41 minutes.

"Dressed to Kill" is the opening track to "Atmospherical". There is a so much "Classic" in this track. You can hear and feel the very essence of the DIO era pulsing through the veins of this track. Guitars are on point, and the keys are phenomenal. Total 80's movie feel. It's a fun and airy track. Track two, "Déjà Vu", starts off with an incredible key induced psychedelic experience and doesn't let up throughout the track with the help of the drums of course. The guitars are also incredible here. But perhaps my favorite part of this track is the lyrics. I was really pulled to the lyrics. The vocals are an added bonus, but the lyrics strike the cord. This is you typical breakup track, but done with such control and beauty.

"Forbidden Lover", track four, is THE seductive track on the album. It's a little more rough around the edges and the tone is much lower than the previous tracks on "Atmospherical". The guitars and keys keep the energy, but provide the sexy, especially starting at mark 3.05. I have to give a shout out to the bass here as well. It is much more prevalent in this track than the others. Track six, "Evil Rose", is strangely appealing. If there is a track that is most AOR on this album, it is this track, but that doesn't take away the appeal. It's high energy and increasingly powerful. The vocals help create the power, but the guitars solidify it.

"The Mountain", track eight, is the light of the album. This track shows the depth these guys can go. It is not only in their music, but in their lyrics and production as well. This track is what I would consider the soul of the album. The final track "Wall of Bricks" is an energetic, strong farewell track. With the ebbs and flows of the emotions in this album, this track is the perfect ending. The guitars are so good in this track. The solo is part of the greatness the guitar has on this track and the album as a whole. The vocals help keep the power intact throughout, when the guitars are a bit softer.

They are known to have a more AOR style but this "Atmospherical", the movement created a more rounded Melodic Metal sound, but in all honesty, could still work well on the radio without so much of a  "radio" sound. It's a light listen, but still has emotion and power behind it. This album will appease many listeners. Let your more Classic Metal roots skin deep into this album.
