Night Demon - Curse Of The Damned album cover

Perfecting the sound of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal with authenticity is a hard task for almost all bands from out of Britain - for example - in the USA - attempts as such resulted in the morphing of the ideal to many other byproducts such as thrash metal, speed metal, power metal, doom metal and countless other subgenres.

Now - Ages after the rise of NWOBHM - This American trio (with a name that you might be surprised was not yet taken after so many years) - NIGHT DEMON - comes to recreate the forgotten magic that lies in the core of modern day metal with surprising ease. NIGHT DEMON is a three-piece Heavy Metal band from the state of California. Founded on 2011, they have released their self - titled first album "Night Demon" on 2012, which received good reception - this full-length album is not failing to follow its predecessor.

"Curse Of The Damned" is a solid, true to core comeback to ass kicking, head thrashing, good old classic NWOBHM - think IRON MAIDEN, JUDAS PRIEST, DIAMOND HEAD, TYGERS OF PANG TANG and almost every other British metal band from the late seventies and early eighties. The band also was successful at recreating the sound of the era with its lyrics - focusing on many of the genre's stereotypical yet oddly comforting and nostalgic subjects: Hell, demons, battles, mythical beasts and fighting against the man with the power of heavy metal (m/). You can also hear that the band focused a lot into the actual sound - it's warm vintage sounding mix, Jarvis Leatherby's great vocals and galloping bass, Brent Woodward's skillful guitar playing and Dustin Squires's classic drumming.

For me - the songs "Heavy Metal Heat" and "The Howling Man" struck me best - the former with its fast paced elating sound and lyrics, and the former with its darker and more emotionally driven theme.

Overall, this is a fantastic release and a great comeback to the golden age of metal, which you should pick up when it comes out.
