Nibiru - Salbrox album cover

In experimental genres of Metal and Rock 'n' Roll, some previous knowledge is demanded to have a right approach on what the listener will experience when dealing with some albums. But there are moments when even the most experienced listeners won't have an idea of what a band wants to express with their music. And that's the case of NIBIRU. "Salbrox" is a very difficult album to be understood. It seems like a weird row of Industrial Rock songs mixed with Drone Music and Dark Ambient Music influences and some Death/Black Metal vocals, Doom/Gothic influences and sinister ambiances. Trying to explain with clear words, it seems like N. I. N. entered a kind of lysergic Progressive Rock travel into Dark Ambient universe to create something. And the more you hear, the more it seems to be a recollection of influences that points to nowhere. The band's music makes no sense at all.

The sound production focused on the keyboards and effects, and it doesn't sound bad at all. The hardness the listener will experience on this album comes from the songs, not from the sound quality (in this point, all is very good, indeed). The seven songs of "Salbrox" are hard to be understood, and it's not a case of "my-music-can't-be-understood-for-the-dumb" as some musicians love to say on the press (Lou Reed was a master on such way to hide his musical incompetence sometimes). "EHNB" seems to be a strange mix between Dark Rock with Industrial influences and something more; on "EXARP", some good vocals can be heard (a clear touch of old TIAMAT works can be heard here), the electronic effects that seems to be emulating guitar sounds on "NANTA" and on "ABALPT", and the pianos parts on "BITOM" are not able to save this album. Sorry, but it bores the listener sometimes, and sounds pretentiously experimental to hide the lack of a cohesive musical insight.

To compact things and cut off all such ideas would be a fine idea for the next album, but "Salbrox" is that kind of album that rises doubts if a band will have another album after all.
