Never A Hero

Since NEVER A HERO have released EP "Socially Awkward" in 2010, they constantly receives good reviews, comments and opinions. Well, looks like another one is coming. NEVER A HERO had his debut full album in late autumn 2014, and their second full-length was released on 3rd August 2015. Its a band that is made of musicians from 2 other bands decided to create something different from their usual style.
History like that might herald a great variety. So here we have some rap, classic alternative rock, sometimes even guttural vocals. Electronics also appears, some pianos... Jeez there is a lot. They mixed a lot of things and used different components and tricks in every song. "A thousand Days Wasted" is a pretty rough opening to the album. It reminds me of these more rough tracks by NINE INCH NAILS. Vocals were distorted and harsh. In next songs they are much more polite and clean. "Mr. Munchausen" starts a bit heavy and groovy, and is gradually turning into hard rock. During the song appears small electro-insets. "Nightboy" has some pop flavor. It's really vivacious, almost dance-like. Ironically next thing is "Not too cool to dance" which is more like a electro-rap-core than rock. This is how it begins. You're lost already, don't you? NEVER A HERO shows off with their ideas. Every song brings something new to the album. Special mentioning needs an instrumental "God is complex". Composition made mostly of piano and violins. Also one of my favorites will be "Kramer" where half of a song is a rap, and during the second again the guttural vocals appears. This song, together with "The Crow That Follows You Home" shows the spirit on this album in the best way.
"UnEvolution" might be another sign of the rising popularity of experimental rock. I have encountered many of similar projects and I have to say that NEVER A HERO, comparing to others, have pretty good stuff. Well, there are used so many ideas and styles, that might be enough for 2 other albums. If you're searching for something various, here you go.
