Ouroboric Stagnation
Neurogenic
NEUROGENIC is something of a multinational band formed in 2012 by guitarist Vlad Melnik. Following the release of a demo that year, the band presents their 2016 debut LP entitled "Ouroboric Stagnation," which contains eleven tracks. Calling themselves Brutal Death Metal seems perhaps fitting, but I immediately noticed that all tracks are between two and three minutes in length. This is usually reserved for the mindless Grindcore genre, but let's take a listen. Well, "Absorption Of Oblivion" provided us with the confirmed answer. It is a two minute pulverization of your senses, with blast beat drumming, riffs that barely register as music, and ultra-low Death vocals, with obligatory pig squeals at every turn. "Subdural Breeding" isn't much different and I find myself wondering how they can keep this up for an entire album and refer to it as music.
Rolling to "Warden Domain," you have no sense of style, character shift or dynamics. All intents and purposes seem hell bent solely on a product that is as extreme and brutal as possible. While I admire the sentiment, it makes it very difficult to do a review as the variation from track to track is virtually non-existent. "Vortex of Uncreation" brings a little variegate due to the lack of vocals and a slower pace with more discernable riffs. Besides the brief drum into, "Soul Enthralled" is just like the other tracks. It is so uniform that it is difficult to describe. As a Metal fan who delves into the Extreme side from time to time, I can appreciate living in the far side of the spectrum, but when you bring the entire family and move in all of your things for good, I think you have lost some connection with the outside. "Eternal Path of Enslaved" closes the album in the same manner it opened. With words in some of the song titles that Webster's does not recognize, and sounds that come from the lowest peaks of hell, you have about as brutal and dominating of an album that you could. Though music is subjective to each listener, this is about as far from that term as possible. Some people really enjoy this and while I can understand why, I always wonder when you have a spectrum of visible light that has thousands of points, why you would close out all others and live for eternity on one single point.
