The Spires of Chaos
Nefirum

Nefirum comes from the U.S.A. and play a form of Scandinavian black metal. A form of, well the influences from a lot of bands, is not something they hide. But they are not a rip-off band, i actually never heard this kind of black metal before. This band has not a Label ... I mean we're talking such a high performance of musicianship, so great songs and … I can't understand it? They have been around since 2007, but I guess that each member has been playing for a longer time than that. This kind of bit melodic black metal, is what you expect from bands like Emperor, Dissection, Old man's child, Lord Belial, Hyperion,Stortregn, Marduk and many more. The quality, the perfection is outstanding. I could write much more, but, we dive into the EP.
"Depraved Soul Dominion" is the first track out ...and what a track, melodic aggressive, the drums are sick, the guitar work so tight, and a solo ...that you normally hear from a band like SepticFlesh. The voice is in the gray zone of both black and death metal. "Hysterical Neurosis" is the next track...and it opens up white something that Emperor would do, and the bass guitar is very clear. The track changes a lot, so much going on. And what I really like is the passion they have, this is technical, melodic and aggressive at the same time... I love it. Next track "The Spires of Chaos" has a lot of surprises, the track is 3:45 minutes, but pretty much involve everything, you can expect from the black metal genre. "Alchemy of the Sands" starts in a way like a death metal track, but then, when you hear the screaming guitar, the track transforms into like a pure heavy metal song. The track is without a doubt the most heavy track on the album. All good ....or evil things must come to an end, and with "Disease in Me - Outro" we are there. Another heavy track, with a very ominous feeling. I noticed, during the listening, that this band does really create an atmosphere for each track. The skills are so high, the song's on a level that makes you wonder, why is this band not bigger. It is hard for me, to understand that, a band, with this quality, don't have a label. If you are looking for a superb black metal band, that push their limits, take a listen to Nefirum.
