Worldwide Warfare
Necrotted
Death Metal sextet NECROTTED formed in Germany in 2008. From their Facebook page, "The southern German death metal brigade NECROTTED convinces with a brutal mixture: Sweeping guitar riffs and dashing blast beats come upon stomping slam parts and catchy refrains, which are presented by deep, guttural vocals. Over the years, the six guys have amassed a significant loyal fan base, which loves the band's hard-hitting brand of massively heavy and ferocious death metal. They present their latest offering today titled "Worldwide Warfare," which contains ten tracks.
The title track kicks things off. There is chaos in the background, like you have been dropped into a war zone. A mid-tempo riff leads the charge, with absolutely thunderous bass drum kicks. The vocals vary in tone...sometimes shouts and other times Death growls. "No War but Class" is faster in pace, ever fueled by the insanely quick percussion. The vocals settle at times into a groove that is rhythmically mechanical at times...it's an interesting observation but not saying whether good or bad. Kicking it up another notch, "Hunt Down the Crown" goes for broke, with breakneck speed and punishment. A breakdown section of sorts hints more towards a Deathcore sound, but overall, this is a brutal testament.
"The Lost Ones" opens with some clean guitar notes, bringing a bit of diversity to the table, but soon an onslaught ensues. It has a little more orderly sound as well. "Our Dominion" has a heavy and staccato attack with some rhythmic changes that are technically sound. It showcases an intense and dexterity from the work from guitars, bass and drums. "Forlorn Planet" is a pretty accurate message for where mankind is heading, and a nice closer to the theme of the album. The message is foreboding, as told by the energetic and pungent music. Overall, I find the album's strength lies in the musicianship of the band for the most part. Obviously, with Death Metal, you aren't going to hear anything overly original, but the fervor of the band is noteworthy. The only wild card for is the vocal style. It wasn't for me, but it fits with the music well enough. Give it a listen and decide for yourself.
