NECROSEXUAL is the Crossover Thrash/Black Metal solo project of an artist only known as "The Necrosexual." "Seeds of Seduction" is his third EP and fourth release overall, released by Fólkvangr Records on September 3, 2021.

I'm going to get this out of the way: that album cover makes me really uncomfortable. I know it's a piece of steak, but every time I see it, I get sympathetic pain because it looks like the guy's junk was mangled in a horrific accident. Moving on!

It's pretty clear that The Necrosexual has a major appreciation for early-to-mid-80s Extreme Metal. His singing voice features notes of MERCYFUL FATE-era King Diamond, John Connelly from NUCLEAR ASSAULT, and VOIVOD's Snake, and his riffing shows a devotion to the New York Thrash Metal scene, with some "Morbid Visions"-era SEPULTURA-like moments creeping through as well.

Since the track listing is so short, I will delve into each of the songs individually. "Chaos Command," the opening track, had an intro that really threw me for a loop. To be honest, when I first started listening, I thought this is going to be closer to MR. BUNGLE, what with the heavy use of the tri-tone and the bizarre cackling reminding me of that group's demonic clown music. However, it didn't take too long for the track to break down into a classic, ANTHRAX-esque thrashy groove. "Screamin' for the Steamin' Demon Semen" changes its pace more frequently than a D.R.I. song, but also has some of the more technical moments than any of the other songs on the EP. Also, towards the end when The Necrosexual instructs "the band" to slow down so "the crowd" can mosh had me going "damn, that's so New York." And finally, "A Long Time To Die" starts off Black Metal and then goes full VOIVOD, with one of the most head-spinningly catchy higher-string guitar melodies I've ever heard.

Overall, this is a pretty great EP. The Necrosexual has what it takes to be the new dynamic frontman in Metal along the same vein as King Diamond or Ozzy Osbourne, with just a dash of humor mixed in as well. Once I turn in this review though, I'm deleting that cover art from my computer because it reminds me too much of what I imagine the main character in Ernest Hemingway's The Sun Also Rises must have felt. If you don't know what I'm talking about, just Google it. It's not a pleasant image.
