"Portal Of Me" is chaotic or interesting? I'm not sure myself. I've never heard a Progressive Extreme Death Melodic Metal band before NE OBLIVISCARIS so it'll be weird and challenging at the same time to write a review on this one.

So let's talk about all the instruments on "Portal Of Me": Two guitars, a bass, drums which all of those above are fantastic: very Progressive Metal nature and it's very cool- so, well done! And now comes the tricky part: a violin and two types of vocals. The Violin is quite interesting actually and I think it created a beautiful décor for the story line that NE OBLIVISCARIS have created I think that combining a violin in almost every sub-genre of Metal is something that a lot of bands should consider; It creates contracts between the powerful nature of the Metal and the tenderness and sadness of the violin.

Now, about the vocals; When Xenoyr growls, It's almost sounds like CHILDREN OF BODOM. It's nice for a cover band but it's not much more than that. There aren't a lot of original bands in the world but I think that a band like NE OBLIVISCARIS that use a lot of Extreme Metal parts should stay original with everything and this is why I'm still not sure if it's chaotic or not. The same goes to what NE OBLIVISCARIS calls a "clean vocal". You just can't use growl or a "clean vocal" all the time. It'll start to get old after a while. Plus every track is as long as the Great Wall of China so all of this should be considered.

I have a huge problem with the track list. Nothing makes any sense; even for a Progressive Metal band it's just too much: NE OBLIVISCARIS just made everything more complicated and my question is "What for?!" I heard a lot of Progressive Metal bands that has complicated their albums like BEARDFISH, DREAM THEATER, TRANSATLANTIC or even LIQUID TENTION, but even those four didn't make all things complicated, and when things get complicated it.

So I'm not sure yet if NE OBLIVISCARIS's "Portal Of Me" is a chaotic album or not but I'll let you to decide this.
