Nation Despair - Ruins album cover

Formed in 2008, the band didn't lose any time recording its first demo "Torn Apart" the very same year, which actually never got released. Two years later the band returns with a self financed EP entitled "Ruins" and an appetite for destruction...

The fact is that these guys d not seem to have much of an appetite since the music is a really common style of melodic Death Metal that kind of reminded me of a more simple version of SCAR SYMMETRY with the brutal vocals and all. The sound is also weak, since "Ruins" sounds like a well recorded demo and nothing more, something that surely doesn't help the band at all. The good thing about these guys is that they don't try to write hyperfast or extremely technical stuff like many melodic Death Metal bands tend to do nowadays. They are concentrated more on the guitar melodies and the strong choruses, something that may eventually become a lethal weapon for them if they work a bit harder.

What this band needs is creativity and hard work. They seem to have the abilities and talent to do something more, but they need to take advantage of it.
