After (or before) the band's latest pretty good full-length album Assassins, we have this EP/mini CD, and I really try to understand what's the point in this release. Except for the fact that I don't even know if it was released in 2008 or in 2009. Nobody cared to have a damn press release about this EP.
First of all, I don't even know who plays the drums in here. Secondly, I found this album mentioned as a 2008 release by Century Media, since it was supposed to be an appetizer before Assassins, and now it comes as a 2009 release to me by Candlelight Records. Things are pretty confusing if you ask me.
The album was honestly great, but what's the point in this release? Three songs similar to the US Black Metal style (XASTHUR, LEVIATHAN etc) and two covers. Actually these track were initially going to be contained in a split release with LEVIATHAN, something that never happened due to legal issues with LEVIATHAN's record label. The music is nothing amazing, the covers not so interesting (especially the GOATSNAKE one where even the singer tries to sound like a Stoner Rock singer).
I am not going to spend any more time here, since I think this release has actually nothing to offer to blacksters and metalheads. If you are a huge fan and you are dying to get it, go on and do it. But since an average person's income isn't so huge and you have to spend your money carefully, go for something else. So simple...
