After nearly two years of silence My Shameful return with the amazing ...Of Dust album. Melancholy mixes perfectly with aggressiveness and Doom riffs blend with the atmospheric synths. A masterpiece coming from the Doom Death scene. This here is the right Doom Death album for the right hands!
My Shameful exists from 1999. At the time the band consisted of two persons, Sami Rautio and Harri Jussila who had been playing in some mutual groups for some time. Their first demo, Your Dark Overwhelming, was recorded in January 2000. This duo recorded yet another demo, Sown In Sadness, in July 2000. The third one, To All I Hated, was recorded in November 2000 and released by Nocturnal Music in July 2002. In the fall of 2002 they signed a two album deal with Firebox Records. This time Sami had to do all the instrumentation, because of some difficulties they had with him living in Germany now and Harry still in Finland. ...Of Dust is their third official record.
This album is very well planed. All instruments blending together amazingly well and it's incredible that everything you want to hear, you hear it in the right moment. Among the chaotic Doom riffs, which never seem to end, intervene some synths and piano lines, which make the album sound deeper and darker. The aggressive brutal vocals match perfectly with the general atmosphere of the album. In many parts My Shameful reminds me of the melancholy of My Dying Bride and their bursts.
The fourth song, One Lost, is my favorite because it's different somehow and has a strange melody. The fifth song, I Found Nothing Sacred, has very nice piano lines. In the sixth song, Those Empty Rooms, you will notice the similarities with My Dying Bride, especially at the end of the song. And the album ends nicely with the To Never Return song, which has an aggressive feeling together with desperation.
I prefer listening to such albums when I'm alone, because I believe that Doom is music for the lonely and I have no desire turning my friends towards melancholy! So I suggest you listen to this album alone, except if you have any suicidal tendencies!
