Morgoth - Ungod album cover

Today I have the great pleasure in reviewing the latest record by German Death Metal legends, MORGOTH. This is a real privilege for me to be covering such a band as MORGOTH and being given the chance to review their latest record; so without any further delay, here is MORGOTH with their latest album "Ungod".

I wanted to start off with the record's third track entitled "Snakestate". From the very start of this track, we are welcomed by this heavy and grooved bass and guitars that lead the track into a powerful vocal that would send any listener crazy with destructive urges. Now, before I go on, there is one thing to this track that I have noticed, which any Death metal fan will hear if up close; there is a very strong BOLT THROWER style of guitars and vocals that I keep on hearing from both the opening and the middle section, which goes to show that MORGOTH have certainly taken inspiration off of the grind legends. But besides this, there also shows a combination between the two, showing that, although there is inspiration given, there is also a powerful punch of MORGOTH'S aggressive tone going further the before which shows that the band have produced a destructive tone, which sends the listener myself into this rage of emotions which make me want to lose control. The speed this track displays is just nuts and goes out there like an endless storm, which just takes the listener far from where they started to begin with, which is just incredible; all in all, this track is the definition of insanity in tone.

The track up which took me from the hair and sent me to the ground bleeding, is the records eighth track entitled "God Is Evil". Now, one of the things this track shows is this really incredible Death feel; to be honest one of the things that scared me about this track is how vocalist Karsten Jager sounds almost exactly like Chuck Schuldiner down to the high parts, which is rare to hear in any bands inspired by the late great Death founder. For me though, this is a very old school track from everything down to the bass and drums that make this something remarkable to listen to.<
