Mr. Myst - We Will Rise album cover

Hailing from New Jersey, USA, Dave Wyndorf's band is back and wants to fuck your mind! Fans had to wait five years since "Last Patrol", to have a bite in this brand new offering...their 11th!! Now lets see if it was worth the wait. "Rocketfreak" is a great starter, with energetic drumming, great rhythms, a nice ascension to killing riffs and solos all mashed together, as we are attacked from everywhere. The chorus is catchy and repeated many times, rock style, stoner master achievement with a RAMONES feeling at times.

The next song, "Soul," is bass filled, with a nice groove, crushing guitars and Dave 's doing a great job singing. Pure Stoner rock...very inspired solos. The lyrics are simple but kicks like they should. Great vibes. They have much to offer and they're pretty generous here. The guitar work is astounding. LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL! I hear THE STOOGES at times in the song, as Dave is diggin' the 70's. Now we head to the title song "Mindfucker".Great production here. This album sound a lot like proto-punk. At times it sounds like MONSTER MAGNET. They also produced a video for this song. "I'm God" is a song that start smoothly, then rises and rise to reach the summit in energy and really hooked me in the last minutes. It has an intense ending, and I would imagine it would be very interesting to hear it live. "Drowning" sounds as if it could be sung by Johnny Cash or Townes van Zandt. I like the approach. In the second half of the song, it all explodes in a contained anger. Dave reminds me a lot of Mark Lanegan. I really appreciate this one. He has a lot to say! "Ejection" is a return in proto-punk territory. It's an instant success, and very easy to like song.

"Want Some" is great rock by experienced rockers, as weird and unbelievable as it may sound they're gonna blow the 30 candles cakes in 2019. That is a great long career for them, and they master the hell out of rock. "Brainwashed" makes me think about Jello Biafra and DEAD KENNEDYS. Dave sings like him in this one. Another great rock experience. They took a step back and forth at the same time: 70's influenced while being modern too. While fans never knows what their favorite band will come up with, I think this time won't be different: some fans will dig it and some won't. There is space for newcomers too, 70's proto punk rock or heavy rock lovers will satisfy their craving with these delightful guitars and overall rocking outfit. "When the hammer comes down" ends it all with an energic stoner rock and punkish approach , very strong song, good job!
