Spanish doom-stoner band MISTY GREY's debut album, "Grey Mist", starts with the slow extremely fuzzy guitars you'd expect for a band modelling itself after the legendary BLACK SABBATH. It starts of pretty well, in fact... and then the vocals start.

 I don't know what these guys were thinking when they hired their vocalist, but I can't think of a professional one. Strained off-key vocals sound like Joey Lauren Adams on a bad day, which completely ruins the musical experience for me.

 Apart from the vocals, the other instruments are pretty much the standard, nothing that blew me away, but not too bad. If you can ignore the vocals (and you can't), the instrumental passages can be pretty decent... but nothing great in it. Riffs are generic, rhythm-work was not felt... some of the solos may be a bit of a redeeming character, but only in comparison with the rest.

 Usually among the slower types of music, a lackluster performance would be quickly dialed back in your head to background music and you'd be okay - but here the vocals keep bringing your attention back to the music, in a very bad way. You can't not think about how it's just off-key in the most offensive way possible.
