Mindflair - Scourge Of Mankind album cover

In all my years listening to Heavy Metal and all its sub styles, I saw great names coming and passing by, leaving very good testimonies in form of albums. Some are really something that couldn't be done without bravery, honesty and creativeness. And on Grindcore, one of the most extreme forms of making music, some names as NAPALM DEATH, REPULSION and BRUTAL TRUTH are pillars of the style, creating brutal and oppressive songs. But don't get the wrong idea: to play Grindcore needs more than ears can understand sometimes. And that's the reason that the German quartet MINDFLAIR seems so boring to me on "Scourge of Mankind", their newest album.

It's not a matter of how good or bad a band can be, but to see that you have some great names to deal with, and these guys are not different from many bands I heard before. Okay, they can be doing their music without caring to become as great as the names I wrote above, and just want to play. Their greatest mistake: they are good, indeed, but are not different from many bands we heard before a thousand times.

The sound quality is in a good level. Yes, even being strange to speak that (because it's a tradition on Grindcore to have the most noisy and dirty recording quality you can find), the quality is good, so you can understand clearly what they are doing.

All the musical clichés you can think of are presented here. But they are good, as songs as "Black Frost" (insane and sick, with good riffs), "Unconditional" (another hit in the balls, taking advantage of nasty vocals), "Ideals of Supidity" (with some good more Hardcore orientated tempos), and "Exploitation" (the drums and bass guitars are doing a fine work here), but it's not enough to save the album.

Guys, I can feel that you can really do better than that. Leave all clichés aside and puke your anger out with more personality.
