Denmark's MIKE TRAMP may most be known for fronting the widely successful Glam Metal band WHITE LION, but he has had a very prolific music and solo career following the end of this band. "Maybe Tomorrow" is his latest release on Target Records, and contains ten tracks. Mike's voice has always stood out for me as easily recognizable, and he always had a commanding stage presence. Throughout all of his musical pursuits, the constant that remains is that he puts his heart and soul into every piece of music that he makes. Perhaps the greatest thing of having your own solo career is the freedom to write and make the music that YOU want to do. When it is this personal, you can really get the deep sense of an artist, and as a music fan, I could not ask for more.

"Maybe Tomorrow" is a solid Rock/AOR album, with a fanciful blend of soulful vocals, acoustic and electric guitars and keys providing the main sound. Some songs are more melancholy, while others are positive and uplifting. But what all songs have in common is that easy listening Rock 'N Roll sound that you don't have to overthink. There are some real gems on this album, which reached #1 in the Danish charts. Some of the highlights for me are "It's Not How We Do It," with a toe-tapping rhythm and big, catchy chorus that you cannot help to sing along with, the wonderfully beautiful "Spring," which uses delicate piano notes and Tramp's poignant vocals to support the warm lyrics and the promise of love in a time when the world around you is in bloom, the sweet and touching tones of "Would I Lie To You," the uplifting smile that you can't hold back when hearing "Rust And Dust," the sparkling melodies and positive vibes in "Why Even Worry At All," and the title track "Maybe Tomorrow," which is melancholy and invigorating at the same time.

It's hard not to hear some WHITE LION in Mike's solo work. Some of the chord progressions, especially in his vocals, point to the role he must have had in writing some of the songs for the band back in the day, and it's a warmly nostalgic feeling for me, who has always had a special place in my heart for the music I grew up with. But don't mistake this for him trying to re-create the WHITE LION sound, because this is his own, modern sound. The album is accessible enough to be on the radio and enjoyed by fans old and new alike. Mike is a gifted songwriter and his personality shines through brightly on "Maybe Tomorrow." Pick it up and listen to it; you will not be disappointed.
