Never Say Never
Midnight Sin
MIDNIGHT SIN is a Hard Rock/Glam Metal band, formed in 2010. The released their debut album in 2014. "Never Say Never" is their new EP, and contains three tracks. With a name like MIDNIGHT SIN, you know you are in for some sexy licks. Midnight is the proverbial hour when all the really bad (but really good) things supposedly happen, and sin at that hour can be second only to the concept of original sin, if you believe that sort of thing of course. "BJ@Job" does not disappoint. A bright, clean and energetic riff melds with sleazy, bluesy vocals and that Party Rock type of sound. I can already see the groupies lining up outside the back of the venue, waiting for a backstage pass and the promise of fun. This song would have fit in just fine with the L.A. Sunset Strip bands of the 1980's. "Never Say Never" is the title track. It's another upbeat song with some high reaching vocals and nifty lead guitar breaks. "Satisfaction" is a cover of the infamous ROLLING STONES track. It's an honest rendition but doesn't offer a lot of uniqueness from the original.
I loved Glam Metal when the phase was at its peak. These bands were rock stars and seemed larger than life. Hell, my first band was a Glam band and we were full spandex and eyeliner proud. When you take into consideration a new band in this style today, I don't think you can help but try to compare them with the bands of the movement in the 1980s. When you do, it falls a little short. The fun is there but you have to establish yourself someway to stand out in the crowd with the veritable sea of Glam bands that there were at that time. Some did it with infamy, others with image, and still others with musicianship or live props. I just don't think they showed enough here on the EP to be mentioned with the more well-known bands at that time.
