Marty Friedman is definitely back and this time he is back for good - that's for sure! Marty has a distinctive musical voice of his own throughout his career! His talent is extremely obvious but moreover he manages to deliver his ideas in a unique beautiful way that catches the listener's attention at once! In the 47 minutes and 09 seconds of this album you will find yourself surrounded by beautiful emotions fast shreds, fastest leads and of course the undoubtedly high quality of Mr. Marty Friedman in guitar song writing!
This album features guest appearances by guitar titans like Steve Vai, John Petrucci and bass monsters like Billy Sheehan among others - which make the album more appealing and can be described as one of Marty's most explosive albums until now! The music is really fast and intense from time to time and in fact really heavy metal at certain points! Actually the intensity of this album can only be compared to Marty's first two albums! This is actually almost as tough as his first one but definitely more diversified melodic and with much more contemporary musical approach!
You do not have to be a guitarist to love Loudspeaker but it would help to understand it better though! If you are looking for special melodic feeling, speed, quality, toughness all at one then this is the record for ya man! His playing is quite hard rocking or heavy metal, displaying his ferocious style and dynamic approach toward instrumental music. Even Dave Mustaine would like this record due to its true feelings and complexity! There are some Satriani or Megadeth phrases thrown here and there which make this record really spicy! This is definitely one of the best guitar based instrumental albums (along with Joe's work of course!) for this year!
Marty has been quite popular in Japan as it seems! In fact according to his official web site, in Japan cellphone downloads for songs from Marty`s Loudspeaker album have topped 140,000 and show no signs of slowing down. Marty is also slated to play guitar and produce an album featuring the cast of Rock Fujiyama. He also writes in mainstream magazine, Nikkei Entertainment! Marty has also performed along with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition Slayer's Kerry King joined Marty on Rock Fujiyama where they did all of their crazy stuff jamming with metal anthems from Metallica, Judas Priest, Venom, Pantera and more. As it is also very well known Kerry and Marty have toured together (on Clash of the Titans in America and Europe) but this is the first time the two have played guitar together.
Marty has scheduled for a European tour in April 2007 and we are definitely very anxious to see him playing in front of our desperate ears! Highlights of this album can be considered - amongst the other - the following ones: Elixir , Street Demon , Black Orchid , Paradise Express , Viper and Static Rain . Of course it would be really unfair not to pay attention to the rest of these splendid and magnificent songs! This album has been issued by Mascot Records on September 15th so you'd better get out and grab it right now and swim into the seas of the six string goddess along with Marty!
