Wormwood

I can't say whether they have reached their initial goal of becoming the most blasphemous band in the world, but they sure as hell ain't far from it. Extreme metallers MARDUK have their eleventh studio album Wormwood complete and ready to be served on our players with a full blast of manic hatred.
It's not by chance, or proper marketing or timing, that MARDUK is considered to be one of the most influential bands that helped shaping this unholy collection of acoustic stimulations we call 'Black Metal'. So, it's only natural to expect at least the best when the legendary Swedes strike back with their 11th release (only 655 to go, guys), an album that'll put a smile on all Black Metal fans' faces. If you're a die-hard follower of their earlier releases, some parts of the new album may alienate you. If you're willing to really listen though, you will enjoy one of the most rotting, vile and evil albums of this year.
Mortuus is giving his best, his vocals come straight from the pits of Hell and even in the slower, doom-like songs he manages to sound eerie while Morgan compliments the whole picture with his thunderous riffs. The production is good enough - the album was recorded in Endarker Studio, owned by their bassist Devo.
From the ruthless Chorus Of Cracking Necks (I love that title..!) to the shivering Unclosing The Curse without forgetting the endless blastbeats of Phosphorus Redeemer and the opening track Nowhere, No-One, Nothing giving a flavor of human torture, this album is a good start for a rotten journey to Hell and back. Thunderous, brutal Black Metal balancing between horror and insanity, Wormwood is a successful descendant of Rom 5:12, rising the standards even higher.
