Iron Dawn (EP)

MARDUK, Sweden's extreme black metallers are once again back. Since 1990 they're at war and they've won all battles. All eleven of them. And now they prepare for their twelfth battle, they are patiently sharpening their knives, cleaning their guns and collecting their ammunition. That's what "Iron Dawn" is... a preparation.
Three songs on this EP and all three have the trademarks that identify the band. Furious beats and schizophrenicly fast black metal riffing. Vocals of anger and wrath that militarily command each word.
Sirens of war begin with the first track "Warschau 2 - Headhunter Halfmoonand" and soon all hell breaks loose. The listener immediately gets an idea of what's about to come. Second World War propeller-engine fighting airplanes divebomb sounds leave no uncertainties. Next track, "Wacht Am Rhein Drumbeats Of Death" strikes with explosion sounds and unleashes the fury as army cb transmitters voice up in the background. "Prochorovka - Blood And Sunflowers" follows up to mourn the blood-spattered fields and end the madness, for now, as doomy black metal at it's best fades out leaving the explosions to finish-up any survivors...
"Iron Dawn" is a magnificent sample of the band's essense and hopefully of the upcoming album. An absolutely must-have for every Marduk fan and Black Metal follower, especially those that favor war thematology and relevant mood.
