Mammoth Mammoth - Kreuzung album cover

The first thing that popped into my mind when I hit the play button was the atmosphere of the Titty Twister (DUSK TILL DOWN MOVIE BAR) before them all turned into vampires. The road between Stoner and Hard Rock brought by the quartet can be clean with the mixing extremely well done and dirty at the same time by the effects used and especially by the voice style of Mikey Tucker (Vocals). Pete Bell (Bass), Frank "Bones" Trobbiani (Drums) and Ben Couzens (Guitars) completes the team to deliver the fourth full-length album entitled "Mount The Mountain" by Australian band MAMMOTH MAMMOTH.

The first song that carries the name of the album in this case was chosen to start the work and already reveals what we will find in much of the work, but not all of it. A simple, straightforward sound, the heaviness on guitars, repetitive sticky riffs are a little tiring and the only thing that sets you apart is the slight variation in vocals. Listening to "Kikkin' My Dog" and not remembering the monstrous legend that left us called Lemmy and MOTORHEAD is practically impossible, besides the voice of Tucker remember quite the one of the legend the fast riffs are also very characteristic, mainly outside the chorus.

"Sleep Walker" and "Wild and Dead" are the downsides of this album, two very clichéd tracks where the same riff practically crawls from beginning to end of each. On the other hand, "Cold Liquor" looks like it will follow the same pace until of those two but suddenly it gains excellent variations as only voice and drums and acceleration from the middle pace until the end and finish the album formidably. The work still brings a rather curious bonus track "Can't Get You Out Of My Head", yes, when I looked, I confess the name sounded familiar, and yes, it's a Rock cover by Australian pop singer KYLIE MINOGUE. I always liked the versions of punk rock for pop songs and in this case, not that it was bad, in fact far from it, the cover was very nice, but still, I prefer the original version.

"Mount The Mountain" is finally a valid experience, nothing from another planet, but it is a very fair work to what they propose. Some moments as quoted above really disappoint, but they are in the minority after all. For sure, it is worth checking.
