Phew! I got tired writing this review before I even start writing! Not only this is a 2-CD release and I got tired writing the songs, but the line up is a bit huge, too! It seems I may got tired, but this band was worth every single second I spent. I want to make clear right from the start that I am a dedicated fan of this band so this best of compilation really made my day! I think that most of you will feel the same after listening to the twenty tracks of this release!

Formed in 1989, MAGO DE OZ have become since then, the most popular Heavy Metal band in Spain. This was the result of really hard work and professional musicians who knew that the way to the top is not easy. They have up to now released seven albums (if I am not mistaken) and numerous singles, live albums, EP's, DVD's and video cassettes. They have been a part of Locomotive since their first album as a band, Mago De Oz (1994). Throughout their history as a band, they have covered well-known tracks in Spanish. Oh, for all of you who don't know this band, their lyrics are all in Spanish. Some people think it is a bad idea. I just say, RAMMSTEIN sing in German, why do they rule and MAGO DE OZ don't? I am generally in full support of bands who sing in their own language.

So, let's see what do we have here. A pretty interesting best of compilation that includes many goodies! I may pretend to observe it right now, but I have to admit that I have already listened to it (both CD's) more than 5-6 times! I have fallen in love with this band! Their unique sound that balances between Heavy and Power Metal, with many Folk and Rock & Roll elements is just amazing! I remember myself when I first came across this band's magical music. I can still remember my enthusiasm! If you haven't listened to any of their releases there is no way you can understand what these guys are all about just by someone's description. Anyway, these two CD's contain many of the band's greatest moments along with many great covers. For example RAINBOW's Man On The Silver Mountain featuring Doro is one of the few times you will listen to Jose Andrea singing in English. Pensando En Ti is a cover of the well known Dust In The Wind in Spanish. Those are some of the surprises you will come across while listening to this release. I think it is a great way to make the younger fans to get to know the band. For you who still haven't had the chance to listen to anything by MAGO DE OZ, now you have the chance to do it. The older fans know just what to do. I don't think that they need my opinion on what to do.

Overall, a very good release full of great stuff. Even though there are some tracks that are missing from this collection (I personally would like to see Satania featured in one of the two CD's), I still enjoyed every single second I spent listening to it. A release that deserves your money.
