It doesn't matter if you call it Death Metal, Deathcore, or just Extreme Metal-MAGNACULT's "Infinitum," is a brutal slab of monsterous riffs, exciting vocals, pounding drums, and a swirling mass of violent energy. The first track, "Righteous Murder," begins with a cascade of drums and death metal riffs straight out of the "brutalize your face" playbook.  Vocalist Seb is surprisingly versatile with his growls, effectively alternating between low growls and high pitched screams, similar to THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER or ABORTED.  "Scars," has some light Prog moments in it, around 2:39 of the track.  It takes a sharp left turn with a nice melodic passage featuring unconventional drumming and standout instrumentals, especially with the bass.  The moment doesn't last long, however, and it left me wanting more. .

I actually find the highlight to be the track "Holy-um," as it breaks up the brutal monotony the band sometimes find themselves in.  The clean, melodic guitar really melds well with the female vocals and the rest of the band finds time to keep the death machine turning.  Afterwards, the band kicks back into high gear with the excellent title track.  It has a short but sweet solo in the beginning and it helps the music meld in perfectly into the screaming vocals and groove laden riffs that wouldn't sound out of place on a VADER album. "Schwatt Matt," has a great bass intro and the song itself sounds like a heavier KATAKLYSM.  The final track, "Trash," is one of the most brutal because of its almost thrash like pace and the low end growls that sound almost painful.  The drums are a highlight, especially the fancy snare and cymbal work.

The album isn't without its problems, mainly with its weird pacing.  A couple of the tracks (The untitled track 5 and the oddly titled tenth track "8") are fine interludes but they are very out of place and kill the flow.  If the tracks were full length and incorporated into their sound like "Holy-Um," and "Scars," I think they could had earned a place on the album.  Perhaps the band wanted to experiment with their sound while not changing their core ideas but I actually think it would be nice to see them incorporate some more of their ideas into their brutal main sound.   The band's playing is at the top level and it feels like they are just barely scratching the surface of what they can do with their sound.
