Glam Metal... Yep! That's still a thing. I think it's a style of music that has been hindered by some pretty awful bands but there was a lot of talent back in the day. I mean you had Michael Angelo Battio in NITRO that was just freaking awesome on the guitar and you had of talented singers that could sing your socks off. I would say in the last 6-7 years, we have had a plethora of new bands in the genre. They are updating the sound a bit but they keep the sleaze that was a big proponent of the sound back then!

Following the footsteps on bands like STEEL PANTHER, THE STRUTS and SISTER DOLLS, MAD MARGRITT (funny thing, my mom's name is actually Margaret...) deliver on all fronts. Look at that cover, it made think about old SCORPIONS covers, its old school and pretty sweet to be perfectly honest. I love a good album cover and this was as old school as it could get!

First and foremost, you have the obligatory ballads on this album, I think they kill the momentum of the album unfortunately. ''Broken'' and ''It's Time I Told You Goodbye'' are classic melodic ballads, to appeal to the female audience, a bit like ''Home Sweet Home'' by MOTLEY CRUE or ''Love Bites'' by DEF LEPPARD. There is nothing wrong with having ballads on an album but I thought two ballads might have been too much for an album consisting on only 9 songs! There aren't bad songs but it's deja vu all over again...

I think the best part of the album is that Mark Cook solo on the last song of the album, ''Bad Obsession''. Wow! Just wow...blistering speed with enough technical elements to make it even better. Props to the guy, vastly underrated guitarist and he really shines on this last song. The song actually overshadows the instrumental song ''Into the Light'' in his awesomeness. Even though the instrumental song makes everyone shine, I thought the guitar solos in ''Bad Obsession'' blew everything out of the water per se.

So you got two ballads and one instrumental, it leaves you with 6 solid songs, nothing groundbreaking by any reach of the imagination but it's still very solid. You have alot of raw energy, infectious grooves and some pretty heavy stuff on this album. They are really updating the sound of Glam Metal and making it their own. I wasn't a fan of the genre but this band may change my mind about the whole thing!
