Lypswitch originally from Orlando Florida moved to Hollywood in April 1988.They kicked and fought their way around the Sunset Strip packing out the usual names such as The Whiskey, Gazzams ,The Roxy and The Troubadour which a lot of people have heard the stories about also seen the documentaries. Frequently playing with rival bands such as Taz, Funhouse, Bang Tango and Love/Hate the latter two went on to achieve major label success. Lypswitch also had plenty of press from the local rags such as BAM , Rock City News and Screamer as well as radio airplay on the coveted KNAC Pure Rock 105.5 FM with their debut single “Rattlesnake Skin” .In 2015 a 4 disc box set called “Rock And Roll Rebels And The Sunset Strip” released on Eonian Records by founder of the label Steven Craig who remained friends with Kevin Agosta (Drums) the inevitable was going to happen so 35 years later complete with 3 newly recorded songs complete with new album artwork remastered by Anthony Focx “World Of Sin” finally gets a release.

Eonian Records have brought out some great remasters and reissues of some obscure bands or hard to get hold of albums some great material which I have in my CD collection. Plus also some new up and coming bands on their roster. This album also features 3 new recorded songs which were recorded in 2018 but originally written in the late 80's,early 90's “World Of Sin” the first track and “American Song” the second track are two of them. They have that attitude and gritty melody that we came accustomed to in the sunset strip era. They set the direction for this album ”Somewhere Some Place” and “Watch Me Live” (The third new recording) keeps that momentum going that nostalgic sound and swagger dirty guitar riffs runs and solos delivered with some vocals that ooze attitude. ”Carry Me Away” is more mellow a ballad some nice acoustic touches with a nice guitar solo and more sincere vocals. ”Rock N' Roll Ain't Pretty”, “Thirst” and “Domination” are those filler tracks on an album just mediocre tracks that are lacking that killer punch unlike the previous tracks, the latter track Danny Whaley sounds a bit like Alice Cooper. ”Rattlesnake Skin” is back on track a really catchy, sleazy track with gang backing vocals, with a punk element, a great guitar solo very Poison, Guns N' Roses and La Guns sounding a great slice of sleaze and hair metal. ”Fever Psychedelic” starts with a bluesy rendition of the classic track “Fever” by Peggy Lee which cleverly kicks into a fast tempo track with a nice groovy bassline. ”Sexx On The Sun” ,”Razor Blade Slide” and “Kiss In The Dark” are another three great examples of sleaze in its heyday that were the LA Sunset Strip sound those great riffs, dirty bassline and vocals which everyone loved. ”Out Of Control” and “Man In The Middle” also fall into this category. The album ends with “Dave's Song” some great piano melodies with great guitars electric and acoustic shows off the talent this band had but why is this an instrumental? Don't get me wrong it sounds great, there must be a reason for this ,but with the right lyrics this would make a killer ballad.

World Of Sin” is a great nostalgic album from that era, there are a couple of tracks which were just average but on the whole I really enjoyed this album. I don't know why Lypswitch did not get a deal back them for whatever reason arrived in LA too late, the market was flooded with bands like this or they didn't get that break like other bands did. But it is a shame because some of those bands who did make it ,did not release as good an album as this. It is great that it has finally seen the light of day.
