Nothin' But Death
Lykaion

The first time I listened to LYKAION I thought that I was listening to some unreleased SENTENCED song or a new TO/DIE/FOR song. However I was totally wrong as it is a newcomer band from Italy and "Nothin' But Death" is their debut album. The name LYKAION comes from the name of the mountain Lykaion in Peloponisos, Greece where it is believed that Zeus was born and raised by the three Nymphs, Netha, Theisoa and Agno.
"Nothin' But Death", which runs for 40 minutes and has ten songs, is indeed a mixture of the bands I aforementioned but with occasional more heaviness - the band states NEVERMORE as the main influence for those powerful outbreaks. Even if you try to think of something else, by knowing those bands you can't help to reference their songs in most songs of the record - "Nothin' But Death" for instance. But then there are songs like "Passion Kills" or "Dimenticherai" that deviate from the standard path and gives an interesting twist to the record.
"Nothin' But Death" is a record that has a very nice production, cool ideas but I would rather see a better fusion of influences than a constant try to mimic other bands especially vocal-wise. I believe that this band has some potential that by hard working they can evolve their sound and achieve much more than that. If you miss SENTENCED or need more of TO/DIE/FOR this band is for you.
