Lunar Path - Memento Mori album cover

In every story there's a beginning and an end. Most People like to hear good stories especially if they can be identified with the characters. "Lunar Path" Has a great beginning and even greater end. The beauty of this album is that it invites you to take this journey.

Usually, when I listen to an album, I look for a story: The fall of the hero, his fight and his end (Can be either good or bad). You can actually hear the hero's adventure which makes me to identify with the hero. Not just hear the track, but to relive the music.

When I heard this album I thought "Well, another band that sounds like NIGHTWISH". Unfortunately, I was half right. The Instruments are extremely good but the vocals are poor. The singer has a great voice but I believe that her voice doesn't belong to this band. The band has a Symphonic / Gothic Metal nature however, the singer's voice has a pop genre nature and style: Both in tender parts and in rough parts, her voice sounds the same, which is why I mentioned that both NIGHTWISH and LUNAR PATH sounds the same: A great potential for a fine hard Symphonic / Gothic Metal character with a faint and weak vocals.

The concept:
Fears and bravery and agony all over again. This album is a good bad-time story but the band could have written far beyond fears and bravery. There are much more elements in life other than the album's concept and it doesn't matter if it is a fantasy or reality. A great album will mentioned elements that every person can relate to.

And again, I have to give a great credit to the instrumental parts: The décor behind this story line. The band has successfully managed to create the place, the time and to give the characters' lives. The rhythms were very interesting which makes the differences between NIGHTWISH (With their current vocalist- Anette Olzon) and LUNAR PATH.

The "end of the story", from the track "Nothing To Regret" to "River Runs Deep" is the strongest and most significant of this album, this story line. The Outro was very interesting and I must say: surprising. The Outro has managed to create the perfect closer to the story- line.

In conclusion, the album was good. There are few elements that are missing, especially in the vocals and lyrics area but "Memento Mori" is definitely a group of talented people that are more than able to create a fine and a quality stories through its music.
