Sometimes even the most accessible kind of music within the Rock community will be able to surprise you. that is the case with LOVE IN CHAINS. They are a typical American Melodic Rock band; from whatever angle you wish to look at it. In the promotional material that accompanies "Everyday Heroes" the band states that they have been influenced by bands like KISS, STRYPER, DOKKEN and EUROPE. I think they just about hit the nail on the head, but I also feel that they are forgetting one important factor, which are THE RODS, as the way that these guys compose their riffs reminds me of these New Yorkers more than once. Doesn't matter, actually, as on the basis of what I am listening to on "Everyday Heroes" they can easily stand on their own two feet, as this is bloody good stuff.

What I like the most about "Everyday Heroes" is the fact that you get some quite heavy riffing combined with the sweetest vocals harmonies. This juxtaposition (Yes, I have read Terrorizer in the past. I even had a subscription!) works quite well within the Melodic Hard Rock that LOVE IN CHAINS is pouring into our ear channels. For some it might be construed as licking off pure sugar from a slice of lemon, whilst others will feel that this is orgasmic pleasure. I have to admit that although I am a lot closer to the latter one, I sometimes do sympathise with those who prefer the former.

The reason for that is that I feel the music on "Everyday Heroes" is very strong indeed. Every tune has a good intro, a very strong body, sometimes muscular, sometimes sleek, and all have a solid ending. Exactly what you would expect from a band that is trying to impress its listeners in just the right way. Unfortunately, not everything is as good as I make it out to be so far. The vocals are also quite good, but just a tad too predictable, too nice. They just miss that little bit of a punch in the gut feeling. They are dribbling down your mouth's edge instead of causing you the casual concussion, caused by the scrambling of your brain that should occur from time to time.  I just have a feeling that if LOVE IN CHAINS would have been able to strengthen their vocal arrangements to coincide more with the vocal content of the songs, "Everyday Heroes" could and would have been a perfect record. Now it's an outstanding one.
