LOUDGUNS is a Finnish band whom mixe AOR influences with some influences in Hard Rock. These two styles usually walks side-by-side because the similarity in their sound. Both of these influences can be heard on "Sunset Runaway" the second album by LOUDGUNS released in 2014 by Rock It Up Records/City Of Lights Records.
The artwork is a beautiful picture with the setting sun. The line-up is very talented. I'm talking about both the instrumental line-up, and the anonymous vocal performances. The keyboard lines are interesting, and give something more to the sound of the album "Sunset Runaway".
Far as the vocals go, whomever performed them, I think they choose the wrong person to it. The tone in their vocals makes the listener remember the last works by Axl Rose. The performance is both relatively boring and annoyed. The vocals and instrumentals don't fit perfectly, and makes you skip the tracks while you try to listen to the entire album.
Here, you can find the cliché, overused Hard Rock sound in tracks like in "War Remains", "Wicked Lover", and "We Need a Hero". AOR-influenced songs like "Loud N' Proud", "Sail Towards in the Sea", and "Rain Keeps Falling" balance the release out a bit. Then there are a lot of ballads like "Silent Cries", "So Close to Home", "Paintings In The Dark", and the highlight "Sunset Highway" with an outstanding instrumentals performed on it. Talking generally about "Sunset Highway" it's a great album if you're a die-hard fan from Hard/Sleaze Rock. Bf you aren't, you need to have a big-time patience to listen the entire album without skip any track. The singer which they do not reveal by name can make the listening of the entire album frankly impossible. Without this vocalist it may actually convert this band who could otherwise be rather successful into something rather quite annoying to listen to
If you likes Hard Rock, I think you will like LOUDGUNS, but if you don't withstand vocals like Axl Rose, you will give it a miss, like me. Personally, I am deleting this album and not listening to this anymore.<
